Eddie Fett is a creative director, designer and illustrator. Inspired by the work of New York artist Jean Michel Basquiat, UK fashion illustrator Julie Verhoeven and Japanese artist Takashi Murakami, his creations are characterised by their bold freshness and twisted edge.
Eddie began his professional career in fine art before seeking inspiration through other creative media. In the mid-90s, he helped kick-start the pioneering international street art collective Doodlebug and liberal art movement, Indygo School of Freedom in his native Manchester. During this time, he also teamed up with graffiti crew, The Juicy Few (TJF). Their distinctive styles lit up the streets throughout the city.
Music and fashion have always featured strongly alongside Eddie’s art. He has been a member of successful hip-hop band, Violators of the English Language (V.O.T.E.L for short) and a well-respected DJ, supporting the likes of Gilles Peterson at London’s biggest nightclubs.
In 1996, Eddie started up his own fashion label, Fett Clothing, in Bristol. His unique designs were quickly snapped up by record shops and fashion boutiques across the country. Before long, Eddie was invited to become co-owner of Bristol record shop, Eat the Beat, where he curated several art exhibitions, including shows by Sick Boy and Banksy. In his spare time, Eddie had begun performing on the slam poetry scene. With his tight beats and slick rhymes, he helped take the city to success in the National Slam Poetry Championships.
Seeking even bigger challenges, Eddie moved to London in 2002 to join upcoming internet clothing brand, Spunky. As creative director, he was responsible for designing seasonal collections, recruiting artists, organising photo shoots and creating look books. There, he gained invaluable experience of successful project management and brand strategies.
Eddie branched out on his own in 2005. Today, he continues to work with several major clients across a broad range of projects: from brand identity graphics to web designs and illustration. He is also a founder member of the UK creative agency, Black Milk, which will be launching very soon.
